I have created over 120 studies inspired by Gustave Courbet's "L'Origine du monde" (The Origin of the World). It was a highly controversial and provocative painting created in 1866. Some consider it a work of artistic contemplation and female empowerment due to its unique portrayal of the female body, while others simply feel it is objectified vulgarity. We each approach the material with our own experience and I do not claim to have dominion over the forms once created, nor is it my intent to objectify. These forms are self contained origins.

My vision through the course of these studies was to encourage viewers to engage in a contemplation of the forms beyond mere objectification, fostering discussions about sexuality, identity, and agency. The forms are inspired by Courbet's work, not replicating the work. The forms have both male and female genitalia, and or multiple genitalic presentations aiding the forms to transform into multi-sexualized amalgams of pansexuality.

These works are not meant to be archival or stand the test of time; they are part of the disposable body I have been workin gon for the last 10-12 years. Pieces that are scratched upon file folders, cardboard, tissue paper, scraps and pieces. They are meant to show that despite an origin erasure/disposability is inevitable. These are forms not beings. These are not pieces of a greater body, but are themselves objects alien, yet familiar.Â
